Mt. Ararat |
Now that I’ve climbed
to the top of the mountain,
knowing bones up to my knees,
exhausted and in pain,
I can see things very clearly,
for the future is here at last,
Yes, finally, I understand
now that the present is past.
I’d dearly love to go back down
with the wisdom I’ve achieved,
avoiding the valleys of despond
and desert mirages I conceived.
But first I must get some rest,
for I’m weary unto tarnation.
If I lie down among the bones
it’ll be only for the duration.
